Alcohol-State-Dependent Penile Tumescence Measurements in the Assessment of a Sexually Aggressive Man

ALFRED A. KELTNER

CHRISTINE L. DOYLE

A brief comparison between voluntary outpatients and nonvoluntary incarcerated clients with respect to the physical and verbal examination of inappropriate sexual preferences is presented. Differences in motivation, target behavior, alcohol state, and faking attempts are outlined. A multimodalic examination procedure administered under alcohol and no alcohol conditions is described as one means to enhance the validity of sexual preference tests with nonvoluntary incarcerated clients. A single case study is presented to demonstrate the need and use of such modifications.
